Fiorella and Yurelia Are
Recovering Fine, Mothers
Says
Good news from
California. Fiorella
Rocha Arias, one of the
siaemse twins separated
on Monday at the Packard
Children’s Hospital in
Palo Alto, is now
breathing on her own
with some help from an
artificial respirator.
The mother of the twins,
Elizabeth Arias, said
that Fiorella, still
inside an incubator, has
begun to move and
doctors are optimistic
on the condition of her
health. The twins have
been listening to soft
music to help in the
recuperation process.
For Yurelia, the
additional operation on
Wednesday was a success
and she is recovering,
though still under
sedation.
Yurelia needed further
surgery to correct
congenital malformations
following the separation
surgery performed on
Monday.
The family of the twins
are asking the Costa
Rican and Nicaraguan
government, as well as
the general public for
financial help.
