Rainy Season Almost
Over;
Emergency Commission
Lifts All Alerts
The Instituto
Meteorológico Nacional (IMN)
- national weather
service - has confirmed
that the transition from
rainy to dry season is
underway and shortly we
can put away the
umbrellas and enjoy rain
free weather for the
next six months.
Gustavo Murillo of the
IMN said that effects of
summer will be first
felt in the North
Pacific (Guanacaste) and
the Central Valley (San
José), as the rain
diminishes and the sun
shines.
Murillo explained that
part of the change will
more winds and lower
temperatures and some
spotted rain.
Initially the weather
service has said that
the rainy season was to
have continued to the
end of November, two
weeks longer than
normal, however, the
north winds have changed
everything.
As the rainy season
winds down, the Comisión
Nacional de Emergencias
(CNE) - national
emergency commission -
has lifted all alerts in
the country, saying that
there are no pressure
systems or major storms
headed our way to pose
any threats.
The lifting of the
alerts does not mean
that people should not
be vigilant of changing
weather, as the rainy
season continues for at
least another week, when
the weather begins to
change to the "summer"
or dry season.
The example is earlier
this week when heavy
downpours flooded some
35 houses in San Rafael
de Heredia, Heredia
Centro and Barva.
Lightning is also a
problem as the hot
weather of the morning
brings thunderstorms and
lightning in the
afternoons.
