Man Survives Run In With
A Mad Cow
Bayardo Rodríguez Arce
is always very careful
in crossing the street,
given the increased
number of traffic
accidents where
pedestrians have been
run over by vehicles by
drunk drivers, but never
imagined that he would
become victim of another
kind of hit and run -
hit and run over by a
cow!
The incident occurred
yesterday in Carrillos
Alto, Poás, when he was
going about his chores
at the Finca Los Chávez,
feeding the livestock,
when he came close to a
cow that has just
recently given birth and
had the calf at her
side.
As usual, Rodríguez, fed
the animal but when he
tried to caress the
calf, the cow got crazy
and attacked the man,
kicking him and throwing
him some five metres (15
feet), rolling down the
hilly countryside and
landing in a ditch.
Ángel Rodríguez, son of
the Bayarado, witnessed
the incident, describing
it like the cow was
kicking around a soccer
ball, called the Cruz
Roja, which has to use
rescue equipment to get
to the man who was now
lying in a 40 metre (125
feet) deep valley.
Elder Rodríguez is in
stable condition in
hospital with a number
of cuts and bruises and
is expected to recover
from his run in with a
mad cow. |
