Deported in Panama
Panamanian immigration
authorities have
deported all along this
year 1,973 foreigners,
mainly Colombians, for
lack of economic
solvency and false visas
reasons, governmental
sources reported
Saturday.
The ones deported,
nevertheless, are barely
a small fraction of the
thousands of citizens of
other countries who
attempt to settle down
in the Panamanian nation
to make business, to
escape political or
legal persecutions, or
to enjoy the climate and
natural beauties.
A report from the
Immigration
Administration specified
that 1,294 people were
deported on October 31,
because they did not
have the requirements to
remain in the country.
Other 679 were deported
from the airport of
Tocumen when they were
trying to pass migratory
controls, which become
stricter every day.
Statistics reveal that
the main causes of
deportations are the
lack of economic
solvency (30 percent)
and false visas (25
percent).
