Guatemalans Want Posada Tried
The Guatemalan grassroots organization Frente
Nacional de Lucha, expressed its rejection to
the release of terrorist Luis Posada Carriles in
Friday statements.
"We think it is unacceptable that a person
clearly responsible for crimes like the attack
of a Cuban plane is now free without paying for
his crimes," said Frente Nacional leader Roberto
Madriz to Prensa Latina.
Madriz said this case is evidence of the US
government s double morality, reinforced by
giving all kind of benefits to terrorists like
Posada Carriles.
In Guatemala more than 100 personalities and
several social entities signed the international
call to judge Posada Carriles for his crimes.
Among the signatories are Peace Nobel Prize
winner Rigoberta Menchu and intellectual Jose
Barnoya, Alfonso Bauer, Elmar Red Rene, Igor
Sarmiento and Ernesto Bayley.
Also on the list are Presidential Human Rights
Commissioner Frank la Rue and political leaders
Pablo Monsanto, Hector Nuila and Ricardo
Rosales.
Among the organizations that want punishment for
Posada Carriles there are the Center of Legal
Action for Human Rights, the Association of
Parents of Students in Cuba and the National
Union of Communities for the Human Rights.
