San Salvador Mayor Condemns Posada Release
San Salvador Mayor Violeta Menjivar condemned the release of terrorist Luis Posada Carriles in the United States and rejected any efforts to send him back to El Salvador.

"As the mayor of San Salvador we want to condemn publicly that act by the US government and to express our solidarity with the heroic Cuban people who have been a victim of Posada Carriles' aggressions," she stressed.

Menjivar told Prensa Latina that she disagrees with Judge Kathleen Cardone's decision to drop all charges against the terrorist.

The mayor also expressed concern because Posada Carriles has many collaborators in El Salvador who are willing to support him, as they did in the past, when they even gave him false identity documents to facilitate his movements.

According to Menjivar, Posada Carriles' release is another example of the double standard of the administration of President George W. Bush, who on the one hand attacked Iraq in the name of a false fight against terrorism and on the other hand released a confessed criminal.
