Family Vows to Find Truth of Costa Rica Death
The family of a Melbourne man who died mysteriously while on holiday in Costa Rica two years ago has vowed to uncover the truth about his death.

Twenty-four-year-old Glen Waverley university student, Brendan Dobbins, disappeared in March 2005.

Mr Dobbins' body was found in mangroves at a beach town three months after he disappeared.

An Australian Federal Police (AFP) agent has told a coronial inquest Mr Dobbins had been using cocaine and drinking alcohol every day of his six-day trip.

The court also heard he could have been murdered by local criminals or died from an overdose.

Coroner Dyson Hore-Lacy said the Dobbins family had left no stone unturned to find out what happened to Mr Dobbins, but warned they may never uncover the truth.

But outside court, Mr Dobbins' father Brian, said he owed it to his son to discover the truth.

"The family is hopeful they'll find out what happened to Brendan on March 4 2005," he said.

"We basically want the truth. Brendan was all a parent would want his son to be."
