Taiwan Donates us$2.6 Million to
San José
The Taiwanese have again dipped
into their pockets are handing
over to the Municipalidad de San
José us$2.6 million dollars to
allow the municipality to
continue the beautifying of San
José.
The money will go towards the
completion of the the pedestrian
walkway of Avenida 4, on the
south side of downtwon San José,
fromt he Soledad church on the
east to the Hospital San Juan de
Dios on the west.
The first part of the project of
the total 18.200 square metres
of construction was largely
financed by te European
Commnuity and a part by the
Municipalidad de San José. The
rest will now be paid for by the
government of Taiwan.
The donation agreement was
signed by the ambassador of
Taiwan, Tzu-Dan Wu, who said
that the bond between Taiwan and
Costa Rica continues to be
stronger.
Taiwan is also funding the
construction of the San Carlos
highway and a housing project in
Pavas, among other projects. The
Taiwanese also paid for the the
"Tempisque" bridge several years
ago.
Costa Rica and Taiwan have had
diplomatic relations for the
last 63 years, Costa Rica being
a source of freedom, respecting
human rights and offers peaceful
living, according to ambassador
Tzu-Dan Wu.
