Parliaments for Unity
Latin American and Caribbean
parliamentarians are meeting in
this capital Friday to debate
strategies for regional
consensus on issues of interest.
The meeting of the Latin
American and Caribbean Group (GRULAC)
of the World
Inter-parliamentarian Union (UIP)
is bringing legislators from 16
countries together, including
Bolivia, El Salvador, the
Dominican Republic, Haiti,
Dominica, Mexico, Honduras,
Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, and
Ecuador. Delegates from regional
legislative institutions are
attending as well.
When the meeting was opened,
Venezuelan Deputy Dario Vivas,
president of the forum,
highlighted the importance of
forming a regional voice.
The meeting, Vivas added, is
also called to achieve progress
in the process of change within
GRULAC, and its working plan.
