"Gato Felix" Behind
Bars. Again.
Félix María Araya Arias,
alias “Gato Félix”
(Felix the Cat), is once
again behind bars, this
time for six months on
preventive detention,
caught red handed in the
robbery of an office in
San Ramón.
Félix, has been in and
out of the hands of
authorities for the last
20 years. Police arrest
him, but somehow, he is
freed and on the job
again.
Félix has become
legendary for his many
robbery attempts where
he seems to always get
caught, jailed and back
to his art.
This time, Félix told
police that he tought he
had disactivated the
alarm of the
Coopeservidores offices
in San Ramón, and along
with his sidekick, was
surprised when police
showed up to foil his
robbery.
During his latest caper,
Félix was found with
us$735 and ¢158.000
colones stolen from the
Cooperservidores, as
well as his tools to
commit his robbery.
Félix is now 68 years
old and has served time
for murder, kidnapping,
assault, extortion and
robbery.
Police officials say
that, no matter how many
times he is freed, they
will continue to arrest
him.
