Panama Health Minister Under Toxic Fire
Panama´s Minister of Health Camilo Alleyne was fiercely criticized Friday for allegedly permitting the purchase of medicine with no health inspection, part of the massive Panamanian tainted medicine crisis.

Following this official declaration, the Public Health Ministry received an accusation against the official.

Alleyne has been subject of a criticism for months due to the death of at least 101 people, who consumed medicines mixed with an industrial substance.

The news caused an even greater scandal when it became known that the Health Ministry accepted the entrance of at least 68 medicines without the corresponding health inspection.

University of Panama Specialized Analysis Institute pointed out health inspections are indispensable to ensure the product does not represent any risks for the population.

Inocencio Galindo, president of Representatives and Distributors of Pharmaceutical Drug Products Association, mentioned the need to guarantee that the law is being enforced.
