Referendum To Be Held On October 7th, TSE
Announces Change
The
Tribunal Supremo de Elecciones (TSE) - elections
tribunal - has decided to move hold the
referendum on the Tratado de Libre Comercio
(TLC) - free trade agreement with the United
States - on October 7th instead of September
23rd as had been previously announced.
President Arias Asks MOPT and Alterra To Find A
Solution
Although
the International Finance Corporation (IFC) -
the private sector arm of the World Bank Group -
has said clearly that it cannot accept the
government's proposal to continue to finance the
completion of the Juan Santamaría (San José)
international airport, the Ministerio de Obras
Públicas y Transportes (MOPT), has yet to
announce its next move.

recognizing Taiwan, plans to cut ties with
Taiwan to recognize China and may announce the
decision in the next few days, a Chinese
newspaper said on Wednesday.

The Comisión de Gobierno y Administración de la
Asamblea Legislativa are in favour of a proposal
to countermand Ley 8442 so that holidays will be
celebrated on the day their respective days.
