Nicaragua
A collision between a
small bus and tractor
trailer left 14 dead and
18 injured in a head on
collision some 92
kilometres on the road
between León and
Managua.
According to witnesses,
the truck with
Salvadoran license
plates swerved to avoid
hitting a cyclist,
crossed the median and
collisioned with the
bus. Both drivers were
killed in the accident.
The loaded truck was
travelling towards
Managua while the bus
was making its way home
to Leon.
Among the dead are three
children aged 13, 3 and
2 years of age. Two
pregnant women riding in
the bus were injured,
taken to hospital and
released after doctors
found the injuries to be
minor.
The bus practically was
left stuck to the truck
from the extreme force
of the impact.
