Costa Rican Deport Four
Suspected Colombian Drug
Traffickers
Costa Rican authorities
on Thursday deported
four Colombians
suspected of trafficking
drugs in northern Costa
Rica.
The four suspects were
arrested on June 6 after
setting fire to their
speedboat and sinking
it. Police accused them
of bringing two tons of
cocaine into the country
and identified the four
by their surnames:
Torres, Aragon, Salazar
and Pretez.
The boat sank in 150
metres of water and it
was impossible to prove
if the Colombians were
trafficking drugs,
Francisco Castaing, of
the immigration police
said.
The deportees left Costa
Rica aboard a commercial
flight bound for Bogotá,
and would be handed over
to Colombian
authorities, he added.
Costa Rica's migration
directorate would bar
the four from setting
foot in the country for
five years.
