Minor Sentenced To
Prison For Murder In
Toledo Break In
One of the accused in
the double murder during
a break in at the house
of former presidential
candidate, Ricardo
Toledo, was sentenced to
prison yesterday.
The murder occurred
during a home invasion
last March in the upper
scale neighbourhood of
Rohrmoser, when four
assailants made their
way into the home,
killing at point blank
the maid and a shooting
at and killing a
neighbour across the
street who was witness
to the incident.
Toledo was not home at
the time.
The assailant sentenced
yesterday was handed a
28 years prison term by
the Tribunal Penal
Juvenil de San José on
two counts of murder and
one of robbery.
The name of the
assailant was not
released because is only
17 years of age. And
being a minor, his
sentenced was
automatically reduced to
15 years, the maximum
allowed under the Código
Penal Juvenil (Juvinile
Penal Code).
The minor was found
guilty of murdering,
Ligia Hernández, and
Wender Bohl.
The minor was detained
minutes after the
murder/assault
travelling in a vehicle
with three adults
minutes after the
incident, as police
responded quickly to the
call. In the vehicle a
number of items were
found stolen from the
Toledo residence.
Given the evidence
against the minor, the
defence continues to
maintain a position of
innocence.
The three adults are
still being investigated
and waiting a trial, a
process that is separate
from that of the
condemned minor. |
