Talking On Cellular
Phone Cause of Triple
Collision
Although talking on a
cellular phone while
driving is prohibited
and the Policía de
Tránsito has sounded
like a broken record to
remind people of not
talking on their cell
phone while driving.
Many still insist on
doing so.
And last night the
practice was the cause
of a triple accident in
Alajuela, close to the
Fábrica Nacional de
Licores.

Samain, like many
drivers, decided that
talking on the cellular
phone is not a
distraction and wound up
in the hospital in
Grecia, along with André
León, a young boy riding
in front seat of the
vehicle ahead of hers.
Carlos MOra, the driver
of the tractor trailer,
hit the vehicle driven
by Marisha from behind,
causing the triple
collision, said he could
see he woman busy
talking on the cell
phone.
"If it wasn't for my
ability to swerve, I
would have slammed into
the vehicle and killing
everyone", said Mora.
The driver of the
tractor trailer told
police that he could see
the woman with the
cellphone stuck to her
ear while driving.
The fine for driving
while talking on the
phone is ¢20.000 colones
(us$38.50).
