Inflation Drops
In June, inflation went
back to the downward
trend it had displayed
as of November 2005.
The cumulate index from
July 2006 through June
2007 reached 8.75
percent, according to
the Central Bank of
Costa Rica.
In June, inflation
increased 0.57 percent,
taking to 4.65 percent
the figure for this
year’s first semester.
The lower devaluation of
the colon and the slower
inflation have allowed
for a de-acceleration in
the cost of living,
which means that prices
continue to increase,
but at a much lower
rate.
The Central Bank’s top
inflation for the year
is 8 percent, but
analysts believe that,
in spite of the apparent
respite, it will be
higher than that by the
end of 2007.
