Ecuador Protests Colombia Chem-War
Ecuadorian president Alfredo
Palacio affirmed Saturday that
Colombian air spraying with
glyphosate constitutes a
chemical warfare due to the use
of weedkiller harmful for the
plants and persons.
"This is the position I have set
out to the great friend Alvaro
Uribe with whom I have always
had the best relations" Palacio
highlighted in a meeting with
foreign correspondents.
"Life must be respected and
glyphosate spraying is a form of
chemical warfare," emphasized
the president.
The Head of State condemned the
resumption of air spraying 15
days ago in the border area and
reiterated the need for Bogota
to engage in scientific research
on the effects of herbicide in
legal crops and human beings.
The outgoing Ecuadorian
President finally reiterated
that in the next 10 days he will
file charges against Colombia at
