Honduran victims 22, Attempting
to Reach US
Since the beginning of the year,
22 Hondurans have died
attempting to enter the US
illegally, seeking job
opportunities, Vice Foreign
Minister Eduardo Reina reported
Friday.
Honduran authorities received in
their capacity as repatriates 42
minors, abandoned or detained
while traveling illegally
towards US, he added.
An official specified that most
of the people who commence this
dangerous crossing, end up
maimed or die as a result of
road rail accidents in Mexico or
in Arizona desert.
In declarations to the media,
Reina assured that national
consulates in Mexico provide the
necessary assistance to the
relatives of those who lost
their lives on their way.
About 160 Honduran people died
in 2006 trying to step US soil,
and a similar number was
registered in 2005.
