2.100 Horses Entered in
Tope Nacional
More than 2.100 signed
up for this years "gran
tope nacional" - the
annual tradition of
parading horses along
the downtown streets of
San José, each paying
˘7.000 colones for the
privilege, contributing
to the municipality some
˘15 million colones.
Each year on December 26
Paseo Colón and Avenida
Segunda is overtaken by
horses and their owners,
who with a Pilsen - a
major sponsor of the
event - in hand take
part in the tope.
Similar events are held
all around the country
during the months of
December to March.
Of course, what is a
tope without the
beautiful and scantily
clad girls, both on
horses and on the stages
providing the
entertainment before the
television cameras who
capture the event live. |
