Ojo de Agua Re-Opens
Following some seven
months of closure, the
Ojo de Agua, located in
San Antonio de Belén,
south of the San José
airport, and a popular
Costa Rican attraction
for many decades, will
re-open its doors today.
José Pablo Chaves,
president of the board
of directors of the
Consorcio Nemo, the
winning bidder to
operate the water park,
confirmed its opening.
The water park was
closed for repairs and
changes required by the
Ministerio de Salud
after it failed health
and safety inspections.
Widman Cruz, general
manager of the Instituto
Costarricense de Puertos
del Pacífico (INCOP),
said last week that the
Contraloría General de
la República
(Comptroller's office)
approved the contract
with Nemo and the park
would re-open soon.
The winning bidder,
among other items, was
required to reconstruct
the pool areas, provide
better illumination and
garbage management.
The Ojo de Auga is a
water park supplied by
the "manantial" (natural
water spring) that
supplies fresh water to
as far away as
Puntarenas. |
