300 kg of Cocaine Seized
A total of 300 kg of
cocaine has been seized
in an abandoned boat in
Costa Rica, the
ministerio de Seguridad
Pública announced on Friday.
The drugs, worth over
¢600 million colones (us$1.17
million dollars),
were found on Thursday
afternoon hidden in a
specially built boat
with a false layer, at
El Jobo playa in
Guanacaste province.
The owner of the boat is
yet to be identified,
said the police.
However, they are
suspecting a 32-year-old
Panamanian native
with the lastname Casio.
The foreigner turned
himself over to the
police requesting
deportation because he
entered Costa Rica
illegally, said the
police. It is unusual
for an illegal immigrant
to request deportation,
they added.
So far in 2007, Costa
Rica has seized 24 tons
of cocaine.
