Venezuela, Mexico Renew
San Jose Accord
Venezuela and Mexico
gave an important step
towards restoring normal
relations in renewing on
August 13 the San Jose
Agreement and appointing
new ambassadors.
The accord signed in
1980 in San Jose, Costa
Rica, both exporters
will supply oil to
Central America and the
Caribbean under
preferential terms and
help boost regional
socio-economic
development.
On announcing the
renewal at the Third
Petrocaribe Summit
Saturday, Venezuelan
President
Hugo Chavez said they
are turning the page on
problems with Mexican ex
President Vicente Fox.
Both countries also
decided to appoint new
ambassadors, Roy
Chaderton (Venezuela)
and Jesus Chacon
Carrillo (Mexico), both
seasoned diplomats.
The agreement benefits
Barbados, Belize, Costa
Rica, El Salvador,
Guatemala, Haiti,
Honduras, Jamaica,
Nicaragua, Panama and
Dominican Republic. |
