Guanacaste Under "Yellow" Alert
Three bridges have been completely damaged by the heavy rains of the last couple of days on the Northern Pacific region of Guanacaste, which prompted the Comisión Nacional de Emergencias (CNE) - national emergency commission - to declare a "yellow" alert for the area.

The damaged bridges are over the Río de Paso Hondo, in Sardinal and the creeks in Barrio Limón in the Guanacaste province.

The heavy rains have not only caused the destruction of the bridges but also flooding in many communities, mainly in Hojancha, Carrillo, Nandayure, Nicoya, La Cruz, Bagaces, Cañas and Las Juntas de Abangares.

The CNE is asking residents not to allow the sewers and ditches to pile up with trash as most of the flooding is due to obstructions in the storm sewers and ditches, as well as asking residents to take precautions against flash flooding and raging rivers and creeks.
