Honduran President
Called to Violence Meet
The Honduran Supreme
Court (CSJ) urged
President Manuel Zelaya
on Friday to call an
emergency meeting to
face the upswell of
violence in the country.
The Court's 15 justices
suggested an urgent
meeting among the three
powers to find
alternatives so as to
provide judicial and
citizen security, a CSJ
release informed.
The recent assassination
of San Pedro Sula
sentencing magistrate
Alba Leticia Bueso, who
was riddled with bullets
on a public highway, was
the detonator for the
CSJ request.
Supreme Court Justice
Vilma Morales said
Bueso's professional
career was an example
and the judicial power
is in mourning.
"We protest that we
operators of justice and
the population as a
whole are objects of
insecurity," Court of
Appeals Judge Fatima
Bayde said. |
