El Salvador Murders Peak
in July
July was rated as the
deadliest month so far
this year in El
Salvador, with 335, an
average 11 daily murders
that National Police
Chief Rodrigo Avila says
is 100 more than last
year.
The report issued Friday
rates San Salvador,
Santa Ana and San Miguel
municipalities as the
most violent, and
follows yesterday's
calls from social
organizations to
investigate the death
squads active within the
police.
The public request was
issued after a sergeant
and two policemen killed
a farmer in Nueva
Esparta, 124 miles from
