Venezuela for Unity, not Violence
Venezuela is committed to achieving Latin American and Caribbean integration, despite violent destabilization attempts by the opposition this week.

The Venezuelan government s latest efforts focused on logistics and security for the fifth Summit of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA) and second games of that integrating model, beginning Saturday in Barquisimeto city.

A sign of the progress achieved by the integration model formed by Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia, and Nicaragua is the participation of delegations from Ecuador, Haiti, and several insular Caribbean nations to the summit.

The inclusion of Latin American and Caribbean social movements leaders in the meeting agenda is extraordinary, and based on the political precept that the States integration begins with the people.

Amid this context, this week Venezuela lived through tensions from destabilizing attempts by the opposition sector, including sabotage at the Bolivian embassy.

Venezuelan Interior and Justice Minister Pedro Carreno insisted that attacks were part of the destabilization campaign organized by an opposition group.
