Cuba-Central America University Teamwork
Cuba's Higher Education Ministry (MES) and the Central American Higher University Council (CSUCA) signed an agreement in the Nicaraguan capital to boost bilateral cooperation, an academic source informed Thursday.

MES International Relations director Yadira Mellado told Prensa Latina the deal was signed during the second Meeting of Cuba-Central America Rectors, opened Wednesday in Managua.

The Cuban representative stated they are very glad the meeting is taking place in Nicaragua, a country that provides space for wide cooperation with its adhesion to the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA).

During the opening of the event, University of Havana s deputy rector Rolando Garcia spoke on the universalization of higher education in Cuba.

"That paradigm, whose main promoter is President Fidel Castro," Garcia noted, "is being successfully applied nationwide, benefiting thousands of Cuban youth who were either unemployed or lacked the possibility to take a university course."
