Ticos Eat on Credit
In a campaign to increase to
their customer base, several
credit card issuers in Costa
Rica are offering discounts at
various restaurants if they pay
their meal with plastic.
Cinthya Zapata, of the Dirección
de Apoyo al Consumidor (DCA) a
division of the Ministerio de
Economía. said that food and
gasoline are the most frequent
purchases made with a credit
card.
Responding to the consumer
trend, both Banco Uno and
Credomatic offer discounts
of up to 50% if they purchase
their meal with their credit
card.
Banco Uno began offering the
discounts last April 9 and will
continue to do until June 10.
Credomatic, who owns the BAC San
José bank, is running the
promotion between last April 9
and ends on May 3.
Miriam Baltodano, an assistant
to the marketing department at
Credomatic, said the company is
always looking to prize their
customers.
Baltodano added that the
restaurants chosen is based on
the use by their customers.
Banco Uno credit card holders
can benefit from a 35% discount
at the following
restaurants: Chancal, Café Té
con Té, Ichiban, Rosti Pollos,
Pane e Vino, El Novillo Alegre,
Bariloche, and La Tasca.
Credomatic customers can take
advantage of up to 50% off their
meal at: Okinawa, Le Monastere,
El Balcón de Marisco, Don Wang,
A Churrascaría, Los Años Locos,
Machu Pichu, JR Ribs, Fuji, La
Cascada, Casa Luis, La Casa de
Doña Lela.
