Luxury Condos to Rise in Punta Leona
Beach One Developments, a joint venture between Punta Dominical and the Gordienko family, has announced its plans to build Viva Punta Leona, a luxury condominium community on the shores of the Pacific Ocean.

Construction is scheduled to begin in July 2007, according to Leslie McKerns of the project's marketing team.

Located 90 minutes from San José, the gated complex will be part of Hotel Punta Leona's established resort and beach club community.

The project’s first phase will offer 34 one-, two- and three-bedroom fully furnished condos overlooking the ocean, ranging from 800 to more than 2,000 square feet, and from $200,000. Owners will have the opportunity to participate in a rental program during periods when their properties are not in use. This service will be managed by Hotel Punta Leona.

According to Palbo Gordienko, son of Punta Leona’s founder, Hotel Punta Leona's beach club and resort history dates back 30 years when his family discovered it on a fishing trip. Gordienko hopes the condo project will help provide people with access to the area’s authentic Costa Rican culture.

Punta Leona's most distinguished feature is said to be its two white sand beaches, one of which, Playa Blanca (“white beach”), was recently recognized for its ecological preservation in Costa Rica. Protected by the Nicoya Gulf, the area’s turquoise waters stay warm year-round.

The condo project is being designed by Garcia Stromberg Architecture, based in southern Florida. The firm has been commissioned to create a plan that will ensure the ability to implement environmentally friendly building practices; a cohesive aesthetic; and a balance between privacy and access to views of the jungle and beach. While drawing inspiration from its natural surroundings, the community will feature a contemporary design, and will use indigenous color pallets and have open floor plans.
