Popular Referendum Begins in Ecuador
Election Supreme Court (TSE) President Jorge Acosta called Ecuadorians to vote, at the inauguration of the popular referendum on the establishment of a Constituent Assembly on Sunday.

At the ceremony, held in one of the yards of the TSE, Acosta described this day as transcendental, as citizens must decide whether they want changes in the country though the Constituent Assembly.

We expect the people to go en masse to the polling stations, stressed Acosta in the presence of Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa, Vice President Lenin Moreno and several ministers.

Everything is ready for the people to exercise their right to vote in response to this question: "Do you approve the call and establishment of a Constituent Assembly with full powers, according to the Election Statute attached herewith, to transform the institutional framework of the State and draw up a new Constitution? On Saturday, President Correa said that the triumph of "Yes" in the popular referendum would mean the beginning of a new struggle, another challenge for the Ecuadorian people.

He recalled that the nation overwhelmingly defeated the ruling of traditional parties on November 26, 2006, when he won the presidential elections, and on Sunday, despite the campaign of terror, the will of change will win to establish the Constituent Assembly.
