Ecuador Takes Colombia Issues to
World
Ecuadorian President Rafael
Correa reiterated on Wednesday
that he will undertake an
aggressive world campaign to
stop Colombian military from
entering Ecuador, and to end
fumigation with glyphosate along
the border.
We are going to implement a
multilateral strategy to
denounce Colombia s outrageous
behavior, and request the
necessary support from
international authorities,
Correa told national television.
We do not want Colombia to
continue damaging Ecuador with
its chemical irrigation on the
common border, nor send military
forces into this territory, he
said.
The head of State highlighted
that the strategy is oriented to
"get support in international
organizations, including
judicial and criminal
authorities."
"Every time they cross the
border, launch a mortar or spray
glyphosate, we send protest
letters and they answer: "It
wasn t me or it was on our own
side of the border," he
complained.
The president said they are
tired of this, and "Ecuador will
not take any more."
"I am not going to continue to
allow violations of the
Ecuadorian border and affront
the rights of the country,"
Correa stressed, when ratifying
that bilateral dialogue is
already exhausted.
