Nicaragua's Ortega still in Lead
The Nicaraguan presidential
candidate from the Sandinista
National Liberation Front (FSLN),
Daniel Ortega, is holding the
lead in electoral polls, but
still lacks the 35 percent of
votes needed to win in the first
round.
According to a survey by
Consultora M R made September
15-21 and revealed today, Ortega
obtained 30.9 percent from 1,024
people interviewed.
Following Ortega are former
banker Eduardo Montealegre of
the Nicaraguan Liberal Alliance,
with 26.4 percent, Jose Rizo of
the Constitutional Liberal
Party, with 16.3 percent,
Edmundo Jarquin with 15.9
percent, and Eden Pastora with
0.9 percent.
According to analysts, the so
called secret vote, which this
time registered 9.6 percent,
will be decisive to elect the
president on November 5
