Calderón Five Suspect Being
Treated There
In an ironic development, Juan
Carlos Ledezma, the young man
who is the prime suspect in the
fire at the Calderón Guardia
hospital last year is now being
hospitalized in the same
hospital.
Th fire in July of 2005, the
worst hospital fire recorded in
Costa Rica's history, took the
lives of 21 people and a section
of the hospital was reduced to
ashes.
According to hospital officials,
Ledezma was admitted at 8:OOpm
Monday and is in delicate
condition after swallowing a
large amount of pills, as
doctors continue to work to same
the man's life.
Authorities say that Ledezma has
been hoarding pills while in
preventive detention waiting
trial for being responsible for
setting the fire.
