Tourism Sector Asks For More
Promotion
The private tourist sector has
requested the Insituto
Costarricsense de Turismo (ICT)
- the Costa Rican Board of
Tourism - to double the
institution’s budget to promote
Costa Rica abroad.
According to National Chamber of
Tourism chief executive Alberto
Lopez, the budget currently
stands at close to us$6 million,
and they want it to be increased
from us$10 million to $12
million.
On the other hand, Lopez said
that according to the 2006-2012
Sustainable Tourism Development
Plan they expect a 6.6 percent
yearly increase in the arrival
of visitors.
