Parmenio Case Fiscal Assassination Plot Uncovered
Frequent visitors and those who chose to live in Costa Rica will no doubt agree that the country has changed in the last several years, for the better and for the worse.

One of the changes, something that has been unheard of in Costa Rica before, is threats against the country's fiscales (prosecutors). These are not simple threats against the nation's judges, they are serious threats that have warranted the creation of a security commission.

The Ministerio Público announced the creation of the commission to uncover the plot to assassinate fiscal (prosecutor), Guiselle Rivera, who is heading the prosecution in the murder of journalist Parmenio Medina.

Franciso Dall'Anese, the fiscal general (chief prosecutor), confirmed that other officials of the Ministerio Público have also been threatened, and including threats made against the witnesses in the Parmenio case.

Dall'Anese himself is not stranger to such threats. Though there are on official counts of the number of threats against the chief prosecutor, he does travel with tight security at all times.

The Asociación Nacional de Fiscales has condemned those who try to impede the criminal process and as such has asked that judicial and police authorities take action in the matter.

Meanwhile, notwithstanding the threats, fiscal Rivera says she will continue with her work.

Fiscal, Guiselle Rivera, was the target of an assassination plot. Rivera heads the prosecution in the Parmenia Medina murder.
