Chavez: Fidel Castro
Recuperating Well
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez
highlighted the fine recovery
being made by Cuban President
Fidel Castro, with whom he met
on a short stopover in Havana as
he returned from a tour of Asia
and Africa.
Addressing thousands of people
supporting his re-election in
the December elections, Chavez
said he spoke with Fidel Castro
for one or two hours.
We spoke about the international
situation with Revolutionary
Armed Forces Minister Raul
Castro and officials of both
nations, Chavez said, and
mentioned Fidel was making phone
calls and writing messages.
Fidel asked us to convey a
revolutionary greeting to you
from the Cuban people, because
“we are the roosters calling
forth a new dawn,” the
Venezuelan president quoted.
Chavez was in Havana following a
tour of China, Malaysia, Syria
and Angola, where he signed over
40 agreements.
