Austria, Costa Rica draw 2-2 at
Swiss tourney
GENEVA, Switzerland:
Austria and Costa Rica drew 2-2
Saturday at a four nations
tournament.
Costa Rica took the lead in the
16th minute as Alvaro Sabotio
converted a disputed penalty.
Twenty minutes later, Roland
Linz scored the equalizer on
another debatable penalty,
making it 1-1.
Sabotio later headed in a corner
kick to get Costa Rica in front
again, but Linz scored his
second on a shot from a short
distance in the 60th.
Austria, a co-host of the 2008
European Championship, is
rebuilding its team under coach
Josef Hickersberger.
"This result is fine for us, it
was important not to lose
again," Hickersberger said. "We
take small steps forward."
On Wednesday, Costa Rica takes
on Switzerland, and Austria
faces Venezuela on the final day
of the tournament.
