Cheaper Gasoline Prices Soon?
Maybe.
The Autoridad Reguladora de los
Servicios Públicos (Aresep) will
be holding a public hearing on
December 7 for a reduction of up
to ¢59 colones for a litre of
super and ¢49 colones for a
litre of regular.
The regulator of public prices
and services is wanting a
"rebalancing" of the prices of
oil products which will affect
not only gasoline prices, but
asphalt, jet, diesel and bunker
fuels.
Normally the state owned
refinery RECOPE makes the
request to the regulator who, in
the past several months, has
given quick approval.
However, this time, it is the
regulator who is promoting lower
fuel prices and following a
public hearing will make a
decision and force RECOPE to the
new lower prices.
However, diesel and jet fuel
will be 9.65% and 10.68%
respectively, more expensive.
