Heavy Rain And Flooding in
Pacific Coast
The mid-Pacific coast and the
Zona Sur (Southern Zone) are on
high alert for the heavy ranin
that is expected to cause some
˘200 million colones
(us$385.000) in damages this
season. The heavy rain during
the past week has caused
flooding in many areas around
Quepos and Rio Claro de Golfito.
The weatherman is calling for
more rain over the next few
days, which are expected to
cause even more flooding and
more damage to property,
according to the Centro de
Operaciones de Emergencia..
The "cantones" of Aguirre, Pérez
Zeledon and Golfito are all
affected.
For the time being the Comision
Nacional de Emergencias (CNE) is
maintaining a "yellow" alert for
the area and the rest of the
Pacific coastline.
