Spanish Writer Stands up for
Cuba
The US government's blockade on
Cuba provokes constant
indignation, outstanding Spanish
writer and novelist Belen
Gopegui stated Saturday.
The academic told Prensa Latina
that after reiterated votes by
the UN General Assembly against
that action, it is a pity the
White House has not even
reflected on its actions.
The author of the novel "El Otro
Lado Frio de la Almohada" (The
Other Cold Side of the Pillow)
talks of being increasingly
impressed by the perseverance of
Cuba in its condemnation of the
blockade at the UN General
Assembly.
Gopegui also referred to the
reaction of the European Union
in the case of Cuba when
highlighting incoherence of its
vote in that body.
He also slams the EU commitment
to discourage investments in the
island in compliance with the US
Helms-Burton Act.
