Bachelet Raps Role of Chilean Right
A call to not repeating the same errors marks Wednesday the position of Chilean President Michelle Bachelet regarding the opposition.

"Those who think that rescuing the past and reconstructing history can divide us and move us away from our current tasks are wrong," Bachelet affirmed on Tuesday while opening the Latin American Bicentenniel Forum 2006.

She announced she will visit on October 14 Villa Grimaldi, one of the most well-known detention and torture centers during the dictatorship, where she and her mother were detained in1975.

The stateswoman stressed she will be the first Chilean president to visit the place where he or she was arrested.

On January 10, 1975, two agents of the former National Intelligence Directorate burst into the house of Bachelet and her mother and transfered them blindfolded to Villa Grimaldi, where they were separated, questioned and tortured.

After that, both were moved to Cuatro Alamos detention center and once released, they were exiled to Australia and later traveled to Germany.
