Christmas Lottery Around the
Corner
Christmas is around the corner
and with that comes "El Gordo"
lottery that has gotten fatter
this year over last.
The annual lottery, that goes on
sale on October 18, will offer
five grand prizes totally ¢2.5
billion colones (us$4.8 million
dollars), some ¢750 million more
than last year.
The general manager of the Junta
de Protección Social de San
José, Luis Polinaris, said that
the tickets on sale on October
18 will be sold at ¢28.000
colones for an "entero"
(complete number) and ¢700
colones for a "fraccion" (one of
40 pieces).
The draw will be on December 17
at 7:00pm and the grand prize
will be of ¢500 million colones
each of the five winning enteros.
Anyone can buy a ticket and
claim a winning prize.
