U.S. Immigration Nabs 2 Alleged Tico Rapists in New Jersey
Federal immigration agents last week arrested two international fugitives living in New Jersey, both wanted for rape in Costa Rica.

Saul Hidalgo-Molina, 42, was arrested Thursday at his home in Bound Brook by agents with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Office of Detention and Removal in Newark.

He was the subject of an outstanding warrant issued by authorities in Perez Zeledon, in February and has admitted being in the United States illegally, according to a statement issued by the ICE office of public affairs. He has been ordered deported by a U.S. immigration judge, the statement said.

Also Thursday, agents from ICE's Newark office of investigations arrested Harry Jimenez-Duarte, 31, accused of aggravated rape in Costa Rica, who was living in West Orange.

Jimenez-Duarte was arrested on an Interpol warrant for sexually abusing a handicapped girl in Costa Rica in 1996, ICE officials said.

According to the Interpol warrant, Jimenez-Duarte approached the girl as she was walking to a relative's home, abducted, raped and threatened to kill her. Officials said he entered the United States illegally without inspection by border guards or customs agents. He is being held without bond and faces deportation.

"These are not nice people, and if they're hiding out in immigrant communities, they are a threat to those communities," said ICE spokesman Michael Gilhooly.
