UN Prepares to Fight Trade in
Humans
The International Migration
Organization is fostering
several projects in Latin
American countries to hinder
human trade, spokespersons of
that inter-government
organization announced on
Friday.
The organization, which acts as
a UN observer, issued a report
at UN headquarters referring to
the organization of training
resources in Brazil and a new
project in Costa Rica called
Zero Tolerance to Human Trade.
The program implemented on
Friday in the Central American
State, sponsored by the IMO
office in San Jose and the Rahab
Foundation in the central
Pacific region, is to prevent
trade of human beings.
It also protects and assists
victims of that immoral illegal
trade, and will attempt to
guarantee that the traders do
not use Costa Rica as a route or
destination.
According to IMO sources, the
Costa Rican central Pacific
region is a preferred tourist
destination, where cases of
human trade for commercial and
sexual exploitation have been
uncovered.
