Malaria Continues To Be A Problem In Matina
Malaria continues to be a problem in Matina, Limón, with some 113 cases now reported by health authorities following last weeks Ministerio de Salud (health ministry) issue of an alert for the area.

The principal victims of the malaria are those between 15 and 29 years of age.

The number of cases grew sharply from the reported 80 last week to the 113 this week.

Malaria symptoms are very similar to those of Dengue fever. The ministry of Health said it has already spent some ˘16 million colones (us$31.000) more than usual in the area in its battle with the Malaria and expects to spend another ˘8 million in the coming months.
