Nicaragua Army to Protect
Swear-in
The Nicaraguan army is giving
the final touches to the plan
that will guarantee the security
of leaders and special guests at
the inauguration of President
elect Daniel Ortega, on January
10.
"We are practically ready,"
General Chief of Staff, Gen.
Julio Cesar Aviles told press,
adding they have already met
with the corresponding instances
to ensure an undisturbed
transfer of power.
Managua s International Airport
and hotels will be the main
places to protect, and an Army
medical team will watch over any
contingency, Aviles explained.
Among the leaders expected to
attend Ortega's investiture. are
Costa Rica's president, Oscar
Arias; Venezuela's, Hugo Chavez;
Evo Morales, of Bolivia; and
Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, of
Brazil.
