Ministers Get Potholes Named
After Them
To bring attention to their
pothole situation, a group of
residents of the Comunidad de
las Mansiones, in San Rafael de
Montes de Oca, San Pedro, have
dedicated each pothole to a
government minister, including
the president himself.
The residents erected signs with
the names of Óscar Arias and the
entire cabinet, including Karla
González, the Minster of Obras
Públicas y Transportes (public
works and transport).
Marcela Sánchez, president of
the Comité de Vecinos Las
Mansiones (residents
association) explained that the
giving of names to the potholes
is a publicity stunt that she
hopes will get the attention of
the powers that be to repair
their road.
Sánchez said they have been
pressuring the government for
three years to fix their road
which is just one pothole after
another. The bus company that
gives service to the area
stopped using the street on
Monday said Sánchez as more and
more services, like taxis, won't
come on the street, affecting
the residents.
