Appeals Court To Decide Who
Erred in Mora Murder Case
Abel Jiménez Obando, president
of the Asociación de Jueces
(Judge's Association) affirmed
yesterday that the the Sala de
Casación (Appeals Court), who
will decide who was at fault in
the "non guilty" verdict of the
assassination of reported
Ivannia Mora.
A court ruled on Monday that
Eugenio Millot, Mora's boss, and
five others, not guilty in the
Mora murder, citing that the
prosecutor's office and police
did not conduct a proper
investigation.
The Fiscal General (Chief
Prosecutor), Franciso Dall'Anese,
countered that the court
justices were in error and that
the Fiscalia (prosecutor's
office) follow the rules of the
law in their thorough and
complete investigation.
Jiménez said that the appeal of
sentence of the Ministerio
Público will not affect the case
before the judges of Casación.
In the meantime, Millot and the
other accused are free, and has
vowed to take legal action again
the Fiscal General, whom they
say had a personal agenda
against him and that the
prosecution was tainted and many
of the prosecution witnesses
lied on the stand at trial.
