Venezuela: Presidential Race
Targets Undecided
Venezuelan presidential
candidates focus their drives on
the undecided 14 days short to
the ballots.
Supporters of President Hugo
Chavez try to widen his 50-60
percent lead and secure an
uncontestable win while the
contending Governor of Zulia
Manuel Rosales strives to sever
a 20 to 30 percent trail.
They even issue polls to present
as fair narrow differences
ranging from six points to a
tie, a tactic the observers
label as a publicity rather than
reliable data.
Dario Vivas, coordinator of the
supporters of President Chavez"
reelection grouped in t he 5th
Republic Movement announced a
weekend check up of the ranks
organizational capacity.
They will split in groups to pay
house-to-house calls nation
wide. Effectiveness will be
proven if the December 3 ballots
exceed the current 5.5 to six
million support votes.
